Conversion of PIO cards to OCI cards

Government of India took a decision in 2015 to phase out PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) cards and convert all PIO cards to OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cards. While the deadline for converting PIO cards to OCI cards has been extended several times to make it easy for all PIO cardholders to do the conversion, the final deadline for this conversion is June 30, 2017. After this date, the PIO cards will not be valid and will also not be converted to OCI cards. Hence, all PIO cardholders are requested to convert their PIO cards to OCI cards immediately. Conversion process is simple in nature and involves minimum documentation.
