The Government of India has cancelled legal character of old series Indian bank notes of Rs.500/- and Rs.1000/- denominations w.e.f. November 8, 2016. While new notes are being introduced into the system, to avoid inconvenience, all foreign travelers are advised to carry valid and sufficiently funded international credit/debit cards during their stay in India till any further clarifications.  |   Carrying of satellite phones or any satellite communication device by foreigners into India is prohibited.

In accordance with Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Ordinance, 2016 dated December 30, 2016 and their Notification S.O. 4251(E) dated December 30, 2016, Government of India is offering a Facility for exchange of Specified Bank Notes during a Grace Period:
